Marina
di Camerota is a hamlet of Camerota,
a small town on Cilento
Coast , at the feet of Bulgheria Mountain.
To defend themselves from Saracen pirates, the inhabitants
of the villages of Cilento Coast developed their villages
on the hills and on the mountains, not far from the sea.
Camerota developed on the hill, too. The seaside of Camerota is beautiful, the sea is
wonderful and beaches are wide and sandy. The most charming
part of the coast is Punta degli Infreschi,
one of the most uncontaminated parts of Italy. There
are neither buildings nor houses there.
Marina di Camerota is very famous and tourists
come everysummer. Caves
are veryinteresting: there was an important finding
there, that of the remains of Homo Camerotensis.
This was a prehistoric man that lived around 540.000 years
before Christ (in the same years of Neanderthal Man. The
only difference was that Homo Camerotensis had a more prominent
chin.
Beauty of Marina di Camerota is extraordinary: there are beautiful small creeks
attainable only by sea. Rocks and beaches create an extraordinary landscape,
enriched by Mediterranen bush and olive trees.
